Director/Head Coach; John Jordan

A native of Raleigh NC where in his senior year he was named 1983 National
Federation of Christian High Schools Player of the Year. Coach Jordan has
never left the sport he loves. His has one of the most diverse backgrounds
you will ever find in the sport of basketball. Jordan has been involved on the
professional, collegiate and high school level of the game attaining success
each step of the way for not just himself but those associated with him. On the
collegiate level he served as an assistant coach and was recognized as a top
recruiter before even graduating college. He was the student-assistant coach
on the 1985 and 86 National College (Rapid City, SD) Men's Basketball Team
that captured back to back NLCAA (National Little College Athletic
Association) National Championships. Both teams featured three starters that
Jordan had recruited from his home state of North Carolina. Jordan also spent
a season as associate head coach at NAIA power, Huron University helping
secure an NAIA District title with his recruits for the Tribe. As a pro coach he
served as an assistant coach under NBA veteran head coach, Eric
Mussleman in the now defunct, CBA. He was the head coach and president of
basketball operations for the Fargo Beez of the International Basketball
Assocation and was a professional agent for over a decade. The players
Jordan has coached or worked with read like a whos who of basketball. The
list of former greats include; Richard Dumas, Mitchell Wiggins, Kenny Battle,
Lorenzo Charles and Lloyd 'Sweet Pea" Daniels. Among current players,
Jordan has coached the Portland Trailblazers, Ime Udoka, NBA Slam Dunk
guru, Chris "Birdman" Andersen and current WNBA All Star, Becky Hammon.
Jordan also co-founded and served as commissioner of two different
professional basketball leagues; the CBL (Carolinas Basketball League) and
the XBA (Xtreme Basketball Association) and has consulted for professional
teams and leagues all over the world.

Jordan left the chaotic world of pro ball seven years ago to return to his first love
which was coaching high school basketball and to watch his daughter, Jamie
grow up. In those four years, ( 3 at Statesville Christian and the last 3 at
Veritas Christian) Jordan has sent 25 kids on to the college level to with 15 of
them going to the NCAA Division I level. His SCS girls team made it to the
NCISAA Final Four in 2006 missing the state championship game by only a
point. His 2006 boys team won the National Association of Christian Athletes
National Title. In his his first at Veritas, 2007, he again took his boys team to
the NACA National Title game only losing by one basket. His girl's team made
it into the Western North Carolina top 10 for the first time in school history.
Jordan has twice had players ranked in the top 50 of their class nationally.
(Doneal Mack - Memphis (Statesville Christian), Catalin Baciu - Clemson (
Veritas Christian). Jordan has built a high school reputation for playing
"anybody, anywhere, anytime" His list of opponents has included not just the
top high school programs in the nation but the top prep schools and in some
instances even college teams. Despite playing a tougher schedule than most
small college teams face, he has still managed to win over 75% of his games
in the last six years. He has twice been a finalist for the National Association of
Christian Athletes National Coach of the Year Award. In 2008 Jordan was
selected by the Charm City Challenge All Star Classic to serve as the head
coach of the United States All Stars in the April event held in Baltimore
Maryland. In 2008/09 Jordan's Veritas boy's team spent 4 weeks ranked in
the ESPN Fab 50 of the top high school teams in the nation. An astonishing
feat when you take into account that Veritas is considered one of the top
academic schools in the entire state of North Carolina. Coach Jordan also
sent four of his senior players on to the NCAA Division I college level last
season. Sasa Borovnjak (Penn State), Andrew Kyles (The Citadel), Colin
Sekal (Wagner) and Ema Reskoska (Radford)

College coaches know John Jordan and respect his professional opinion but
also know his sincere desire to see young men and young women achieve
their college dreams. A testament to that is Jordan's founding of the Matthew
28 project at both Statesville Christian and Veritas Christian. A program
wherein students from impoverished nations, not just athletes, are allowed to
come to America and attend high school in hopes of eventually attending an
American college in hopes of providing themselves and their families back
home a better life. In the past 6 years, Jordan has helped bring in over 35
students from foreign lands, many who were not athletes and many who he
helped get to other schools besides his own. As one NCAA Division I coach
put it, "Jordan's efforts at securing opportunities for kids on the next level are
legendary."  Coach Jordan lives with his wife of 23 years, Tina and 19 year old
daughter, Jamie in Fletcher, NC.
